Annual Report of General Secretary
On behalf of all the Executive Committee I wish all the Sarvailian families a happy and proposes New year 2019 and convey festive greetings.
The following is the gist of Alumni activities and our school news since our last meet.
Family Get together 2018
Most of you might have attended the last year family get together which was held on 7th of January at Ananya Eco resorts, Vanasthalipuram. About 600 members attended the event more than what we initially expected. I think this was the first such event organised by Alumni without collecting any entry fee irrespective of Life Member or not and also for family members. This was possible only with the support of some of the members generously contributing to meet the expenses. Except some delay and rush at food counters, the event went well and members enjoyed. We hope next year event will be much better than this.
But after this event we started thinking seriously, does our members really not in a position to pay for what they are eating and enjoying the facilities and other events? Obviously the answer is NO baring a few. We also thought instead of asking donations for providing food etc we can ask the same for making a permanent facility at school or helping a needy member or his family. Shortly we are proposing some amendments to our by-laws and existing practices.
Results of Class 10
Most disappointing results of class 10 came this year with 26 students failed out of 66 appeared. Enough discussion took place in our social media and during our EC meeting. There were many suggestions practical and not practical. We do not expect any further discussion on this.
As soon the school was re-opened after summer vacation, few of active members from Alumni along with Secretary, TSREI Society Sri Sathyanarayana Reddy Garu visited the school and had a lengthy discussion with the faculty and principal. Couple of teachers were punished and many suggestions were given to the teachers and Principal to change the bad practices and improve the status. From administration side 7 newly selected teachers (all are toppers in the selection panel) were already posted in place of temporary/contract teachers. Another 3 teachers were posted after a month. Except couple of contract teachers, school is now posted full complement of faculty mostly young teachers who are staying at the campus.
Batch Get together
Frequent batch meets is the new trend in our alumni and it is increasing every year. This is a happiest change from our routine life. We have noticed more such meetings are happening in senior batches like 1974 and 1975. It is a welcome change.
Haritha Haram
It was a happy moment when Principal said there is no specific space in the campus for planting samplings this year. This was fourth Haritha Haram program organised by alumni and it was always encouraging to do more when we see the growth size of the first year plants and the plants beautifully covering the burial ground in the midst of our campus. Though about 30% plants of second year and third year did not survive, enough greenery is seen in the campus.
There is lot to be done, but due to construction activity in entire campus, plantation is restricted to certain areas.
Progress of New Infrastructure:
Construction of the new buildings is not progressing as expected due to two main reasons- Lethargy of the contractor and fund crunch in the ministry/Govt. Our efforts through best offices of senior officials in the govt did not yield much result.
Annual Medical Camp and career Guidance.
It was organised on 4th November, 2018. This was one of the highest member participated event this year. 9 doctors from alumni, equal number of dental doctors from Kamineni Medical College and 4 ophthalmologists from Lions club, Vanasthalipuram participated. Apart from medical teams, many members also attended supporting the doctors and conducting career guidance to the class 10 students.
We thank one and all for the support.
Other issues
Financial support to the family of deceased member Late Sri.P. Venkanna 1989 batch.
Sri P. Vekanna of 1989 batch who was a teacher at Nakirekal Mandal passes away due to ill health leaving behind his wife, two daughters and a son. The family do not have any income source and in financial crisis. Alumni members rose to the occasion and collected more than two lakhs and handed over to the family. 1989 batch took the initiative in this regard.
We thank one and all who supported for this cause.
